The short answer
Pilot collects rent online via Stripe Connect — tenants pay by ACH, debit, or card from their portal and landlords get payouts straight to their bank. Pilot charges 0% platform fees on rent collected, and every payment is automatically recorded in the rent ledger with receipts emailed to both sides.
How does rent collection work?
Each tenant gets a portal to pay rent, set up autopay, and see their balance. Payments run through Stripe Connect to the landlord's connected account, post to the rent ledger automatically, and trigger receipts and late-fee logic per your settings.
What about late fees?
Pilot can apply late fees automatically after the grace period — and clamps them to each state's legal maximum so you never auto-charge an illegal fee.

Does Pilot take a cut of rent?
No — Pilot charges 0% platform fees on rent collected. Standard payment-processing fees from Stripe still apply, as with any online payment.
